I recently served as Mayor of Kilkenny City, having been elected to Kilkenny Borough Council in 2004. I joined the Labour Party in 1987, and contested the local elections in 1999 in my native South Kerry. I was elected in 2004 in my new home city.
I am now the only Labour Party candidate for Kilkenny City West, covering most of the west of Kilkenny City and the rural towns and villages of Callan, Danesfort, Stoneyford, Kells and Dunamaggin.

Cleese offers Obama his talents
John Cleese today offered Barack Obama his talents as a speech writer. Here's his previous major input into politics- a weird and wonderful broadcast forthe SPD/Liberals in 1987. What about drafting him in Eamon?

Don't you think that there are enough Tories manques, as you might say, like Cleese writing for Tories and "LibDems" without draughting 'em to try to turn the ILP into Labour lite!!!! The briefest of glances at our forums website shows that we have FAR wittier and sensible people than Cleese to write speeches for ANY of the Labour frontbenchers!!!
