ICE- Put it in your phone now

A recent visit to my school by the local Fire Service to educate children on the dangers of fire in their homes brought up a mention of a really simple campaign. The idea is to put a number in your phone called 'ICE' which stands for 'In Case of Emergency'. Here you place the number of the person who should be contacted by the Gardai, the fire service or medical staff should you be in an accident or emergency situation. This saves the emergency personnel the hassle of going through your phone book to find the right person. Go on-do it tiday. The lads in the local fire brigade tell me they're already using it.

It's important that the ICE number is not at the top of the contact list because those top-of-stack numbers often get inadvertently pressed when you sit down on your phone.

Louis Copeland is putting a nice little pocket on the left side of all his jackets now, just the right size for a cellphone. Hang your suit jacket up properly, and you need NEVER sit on your phone again. I'm thinking of leading a campaign for the introduction of pockets on tee-shirts etc, for when one is out sailing, golfing etc... Well, I've got a phone-sized pocket on my polo shirt...
